This Resurrection week, I want to turn our focus on forgiveness! Forgiveness is so important to the life of a Christian as that is the exact purpose that Jesus Christ gave His life for over 2000 years ago. Oftentimes we hold on to bitterness in this life. We want to hold onto that thing that was done to us 5 years ago because it was really hard. In Hebrews 12:15, it says
"See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled."
This just goes to show us that when we have so much bitterness within us, it ends in defiling those around us. When we hold on to this ungodliness in our spite and malice, we affect those around us so negatively. Rather, we ought to,
"Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:31-32
Because God in Christ forgave us, we don't have to hold onto this root of bitterness. We don't have to defile those around us. We have been forgiven the world over. Let us forgive others their trespasses against us.
The Lord is RISEN!!
